Little House in the Suburbs!

Little House in the Suburbs is one of my favorite blogs/websites. They have the COOLEST ideas. :) I use their laundry detergent recipe, and will be whipping up a batch of soap any day now. And, they're having a give-away: http://littlehouseinthesuburbs.com/2009/10/its-a-giveaway-trust-me.html#comments

If you're into self-sufficiency, gardening, DIY ... check out their stuff.

  1. Look! A comment! I got a comment! Okay, now that I'm done with the dorky jumping around and pointing ... thanks again for offering to help. I still have no idea what happened to your "lemons" question, but feel free to ask again. :)

  2. Yeah, it's pretty lame isn't it? Every time I get a comment, even if it's from my mom, I run around in little circles and make everyone near me read it. But I really like your blog. It keeps me motivated.

My question: your neighbor gave you lemons he said would grow in Georgia. Is this true? Will they? I didn't know you could do that, period. What kind of lemons were they?

    Thanks!

  3. Yep, he has 4 Calamondin lemon trees in his yard that he grew from seed. The trees aren't fully grown yet -- just about 10' tall so far. He says they'll get to 20' at least, and that one tree will provide more lemons than any normal person could use. It's a tropical fruit, so I'm kind of surprised they do well here, but obviously they can handle our climate okay. I'm not sure how well they'd do in your area, but if you want, I'll send you some seeds. :)

  4. I would love some seeds. You could mail 'em to me if you were inclined to, and I would think of you every time I squeezed my lemons (oooh, smutty!).

You think they would grow in Athens? It sounds like you are south of me a bit.

I'll tell you what, let me go do some research so I don't waste your time or seeds, and if it seems ok maybe I can PM you my address over on LATOC. I would like to send you something in return. Do you have any use for a bit of local beeswax? Not much, but some. I could mail you eggs, but that's probably a bad idea. We got to get the barter going!

  5. LOL, yeah ... eggs, probably not so much, but beeswax would be neat! Really, I have NO idea if they'd grow in Athens, but it can't hurt to try. Plus, with the whole climate change thing happening, maybe you'll be ahead of the game. :/ PM me your address if you decide to try it.
